Note: All documents need to be submitted at least 5 working days before the meeting.

1. Doctoral thesis proposal application

Note:
You need to submit all appendixes listed in the doctoral thesis proposal form.

All the forms need to be filled in and signed, and their originals delivered to the Postgraduate study secretariat, as well as sent in PDF format to the secretary of postgraduate study at: slustig{at}biologija.unios.hr.

The Council of the postgraduate study proposes a Decision on appointing the thesis proposal assessment committee, which is sent to the University Council for Postgraduate Interdisciplinary University Studies for approval.

When the thesis proposal assessment committee members are appointed, the date of the public defence of the thesis proposal is agreed on between the candidate and the committee members.

The chair of the thesis proposal assessment committee or the candidate inform the secretary of the date of the public defence by email (slustig{at}biologija.unios.hr).

The information on the public defence is published on the programme website.

2. Thesis proposal assessment

Chair of the assessment committee fills out the Evaluation of the doctoral thesis topic PhD-02 Form, submits the signed original to the Postgraduate study secretariat and emails it in PDF format to the Secretary of the postgraduate study at slustig{at}biologija.unios.hr.

The Council of the postgraduate study discusses the assessment and forwards it to the University Council for postgraduate interdisciplinary studies, which makes a final decision on accepting the doctoral thesis proposal.

3. Submitting the doctoral dissertation

You need to submit the PDF version of your dissertation (all parts of the dissertation should be in one folder).
The Council of the postgraduate study proposes members of the assessment committee to the University Council for postgraduate interdisciplinary studies, which appoints the committee members (examiners).

Chair of the assessment committee submits the signed PhD-03 form to the Postgraduate study secretariat and sends a copy in PDF format to the secretary of the postgraduate study.

4. Accepting the evaluation of the doctoral dissertation

On receipt of the PhD-03 form and the proposal of examiners, the Council of the postgraduate study discusses the assessment and the proposed members of the assessment committee for the public defence, and forwards it to the University Council for postgraduate interdisciplinary studies to make the final decision.
The information on the date and location of the public defence needs to be sent to the secretary of the postgraduate study at slustig{at}biologija.unios.hr.

If the decision does not indicate the date of the public defence, the Chair of the Committee should notify the secretary of the date, time and place where the defence will take place. The public defence needs to be organized at the the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University, or one of its constituents.

The candidate should submit three soft-bound copies of the doctoral dissertation to the Secretariat.

After the public defence, the Chair of the Committee delivers the signed original PhD-04 form to the Postgraduate study secretariat.
